Your hosts, we – the Glavić family – spend our life between Vienna and Croatia. When having decided to acquire an old stone house “somewhere in Istria” menwhile more than 20 years ago, after months of seeking we couldn’t resist the charm of the at that time completely inaccessible ruin in Motovun, due to having being close to collapse. The adorable location, the gorgeous view made it easy for us to decide to accept the challenge to rebuild and restore the run-down ruin. Through years of work (which was tedious to coordinate due to us not having been living there) we were eventually able to restore the house, as well as bring the whole estate with the opulent garden to its´ today’s state while permanently fighting the karst-caused unpredictably leaking groundwater. Ever since we have been spending and enjoying as much time as possible together with our two (or three) dogs in the Ruine.Motovun! Since we ourselves are interested in nature, sports, traveling, culture and art, we would like to share with you our enthusiasm for the variety of options offered to visitors to Istria – diverse sports activities, cultural sites, regional scenic distinctions, places of interest and many different treats – from truffels, wild asparagus and the aromatic native olive oil to the recently more and more appreciated Istrian wines.

Not only our family is in love with Ruine-Motovun, our dogs love and enjoy each moment here – the scenery, the nature, the air; we spend almost every spare minute here in this wonderful area together, be it just a relaxed weekend, a part of the summer vacation or a big new years eve or birthday celebration – as a counterpart to the intense, hectic and fast-paced everyday life in the big city.

For this reason, beside the individually designed playful interior and full modern equipment, our house also offers a huge terrace as well as an opulent Mediterranean garden on two levels.

The location of the house and the surrounding scenery invite you to extensive walks and diverse sports activities. Istria features a splendidly developed network of hiking and bicycle trails. Cultural and historic places of interest are in close vicinity. The delicacies of Istrian cuisine and local wine production complete the diversity.
